Gutters & Downspouts in Sherman, TX
Seamless aluminum gutters formed on site for homes across Sherman, Howe, Bells and Van Alstyne.
What Gutters Actually Have to Handle Here
Gutters get treated as trim, which is why so many houses in Grayson County have gutters that cannot cope with the rain that actually falls on them. Sherman averages more than forty-four inches of rainfall a year, and it does not arrive evenly: May alone brings over five and a half inches, much of it in heavy, short bursts off the same spring storm systems that produce our hail. An undersized gutter, or one pitched badly, or one whose downspouts empty at the base of the wall, simply relocates that water to the worst possible place.
We install gutters as part of the roof system rather than as a separate afterthought, because the two fail together and they fail at the same joint.
What Gutter Work Covers
Sizing, forming, hanging and, just as importantly, where the water goes afterwards.
Seamless aluminum gutter formed on site
Gutter is rolled continuously from coil at your house to the exact length of each run, so there are no field seams along the run to work loose and drip. Joints occur only at corners and outlets.
Five-inch and six-inch K-style profiles
Six-inch runs carry substantially more water and are the right call on long runs, steep roofs and large roof areas feeding a single line, which is most of what causes overflow during a hard North Texas rain.
Correct sizing against roof area
The gutter and downspout sizes are worked out from the actual roof area draining into each run and the local rainfall intensity, not from what happened to be there before.
Proper pitch set to the outlets
A consistent fall toward each downspout so water leaves rather than standing. Standing water in a gutter is what produces sagging, fastener pull-out and mosquito breeding.
Hidden hanger installation
Concealed hangers screwed into solid framing at appropriate spacing, rather than spike-and-ferrule fixings that work loose under load and leave holes down the face.
Downspout sizing and placement
Enough outlets for the run, positioned where they discharge sensibly, and sized to actually carry what the gutter delivers to them.
Discharge routed away from the foundation
Extensions, splash blocks or underground drainage taking water clear of the wall. This is the part most often skipped, and in North Texas clay soil the consequences of saturating the ground at the foundation reach well beyond the roof.
Gutter guards and leaf protection
Screens or micro-mesh systems where tree cover justifies them, chosen for the debris you actually have rather than sold as standard.
Fascia and rafter-tail repair
Where existing gutters have been leaking, the board behind them is usually damaged. We repair that before hanging anything new on it.
Color matched to trim
A range of finishes selected to suit the house rather than defaulting to white.
How Gutter Installation Runs
- 1
Measure and assess
We measure every run, work out the roof area draining into each, and check the fascia condition behind the existing gutters. We will also look at where water currently discharges and whether it is causing problems at the foundation or the landscaping. You get the sizing recommendation with the reasoning, and a written quote.

Fabrication on site
Gutter is formed at your house from coil stock, cut to the exact length of each run. There is no practical limit on continuous length, which is the whole advantage of seamless over sectional gutter and the reason the joints that do exist are only at corners and outlets.
- 3
Installation and water test
Hangers are set into solid framing, the gutter is hung to a consistent fall, outlets and downspouts are fitted, and discharge is routed away from the house. We then run water through the system to confirm it drains properly with no standing sections, and clean up before leaving. Most single-family houses are a one-day job.
Why Bring Us the Gutters
We size them for the rain that actually falls here.
Defaulting to five-inch gutter on every house is standard practice and it is why so many overflow in May. We calculate against the roof area feeding each run, and we will tell you when six-inch is worth the difference and when it genuinely is not.
We are looking at the roof edge at the same time.
Gutters, drip edge and fascia all meet at the same line, and problems there are usually shared. Because we are roofers, we spot a missing or badly lapped drip edge that is sending water behind the gutter, the actual cause of a great deal of rotten fascia in this county, rather than hanging new gutter over the same fault.
Where the water goes matters as much as the gutter.
A well-made gutter that empties beside the wall has moved the problem, not solved it. On the clay soils around Sherman, repeatedly saturating the ground at the foundation is an expensive thing to do slowly. We route discharge properly as part of the job.
